Städel
Originally founded for didactic purposes, the Städel is now one of Europe's most comprehensive art galleries, with paintings ranging from German, Dutch and Italian Primitives to the avant-garde.

Brotfabrik
Brotfabrik is one of the city's most original performance venues, featuring live and disco music from all over the world, with salsa, African and Asian sounds prominent; it also has a restaurant and a café.

Goethehaus
The Goethehaus is the childhood home of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the all-round genius who is Germany's most revered man of letters. It has been restored to look as it did when he lived there, with a few original items which somehow survived the war.

Karmeliterkloster
